The city is lonely when you wake up on an empty day
The city is lonely when you don’t get heartbroken once, but twice
The city is lonely when you lose friends you just made
The city is lonely when the weather is grey and there’s depression in the sky
The city is lonely when your family and friends are far away
The city is lonely when you’re reminiscing your childhood and the town you grew up in
The city is lonely when it’s midnight and you have no lover to call
The city is lonely when you run into yourself, every time again
The city is lonely when everyone seems to be having fun
The city is lonely when you’re trying endless times but don’t succeed
The city is lonely when you don’t know where to begin
The city is lonely when crying becomes part of your routine
The city is lonely when the air is cold and the wind is blowing
The city is lonely when you put faith and trust in people that let you down
The city is lonely when you have no idea where you’re going
The city is lonely when you slowly lose yourself in the crowd
The city is lonely when you’re haunted by the past
The city is lonely when you’re terrified for the future
The city is lonely when there’s no safety in the bed, you’re sleeping in
The city is lonely when you have to pick yourself up again
An excellent poem.
One that I can really relate to.
It describes the way I felt when living in the City of Vancouver.
